The Drekkar is special to norway because The Drekkar was designed to carry more troops that the standard Gokstad longships, as many as 80 fully armed Vikings, while still being able to travel in shallow bodies of water, due to the ships being flat bottomed.

The waka is special to New Zealand because the waka, whatever their size, could be paddled but achieved their best speeds when propelled by sail. The Polynesian settlers of New Zealand migrated to New Zealand in large waka; some of these were waka hourua, double-hulled vessels.

The difference between waka and drakkar is that the waka is a new zealand maori watercraft and the drakkar is a viking longship which Scandinavian Vikings and the Saxon people to raid coastal and inland settlements during the European Middle Ages. They could travel very long distances.

The waka is a canoes of the New Zealand maori tradition and is used for fishing, river travel, for war (war canoes, which could go up to 40 metres long) and travelling long distances. Polynesian settlers of New Zealand migrated to New Zealand in large waka some of them with double vessels.
